“I feel good when I’m on the road by myself. As an entrepreneur, these are moments to go and look elsewhere, to go and see what other farmers are doing with their businesses, to rejuvenate through my passion for agriculture . I realize that it’s important to give myself a moment to do so.”
“I can be seen here by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on a beautiful sunny day. Selling my vegetables in the United-States is the culmination of a career as a market gardener. It’s living proof that with time and perseverance, anything can be accomplished.
When I go to the United-States to promote our vegetables, I always take 10 days just for myself. I rent a car and explore the area. I treat myself and have no problem admitting it, I prioritize myself in the end. I come back from there feeling refreshed and in a good mood before leaving, and even more so when I return.
Taking vacations and unplugging should be mandatory. With the amount of responsibilities that we have and all the unexpected challenges that come our way whether it’s the weather, employees, markets, regulations, COVID, and so on, we need to recharge.”
“These are 1000 books I have to read. I’ve fallen behind since I arrived on the farm. Reading has always been very important to me, but it requires discipline. I used to read a lot back in the days. Now I realise how much I miss reading. The emergence of the Internet must’ve taken its toll. I need culture and beauty more than ever. It’s an essential escape for me.”
